The School Bus Project - Lang’ata West Primary School
I embarked on an exciting hiking trip to Mount Kenya as part of a project to raise funds and buy a bus for my schoolmates who could not afford public transport. This project began in 2019, the same year I climbed Mount Kenya for the first time.
I was a pupil at the school, and some of the 1,506 pupils walked to school daily from January to December.
For about three years, I climbed, trekked, and partnered with brands eager to see me achieve my school bus project.
I also organized virtual dinners during the pandemic to share a virtual meal time
with families that wanted to join the project.
The project did not raise enough funds, and I had to shelve it. However, I hope to achieve this one day as an alumnus.
Shoes project - Soles to Souls
One recent community outreach initiative was a shoe donation campaign to provide much-needed footwear to kids in Kibera. Through the Soles to Souls campaign, we collected diverse footwear, including sneakers and school shoes.
The response from friends and family was overwhelming, with many pairs of shoes donated. It showed me the willingness of people to support the less fortunate. As such, I intend to organize this initiative again, on a larger scale, to reach more needy kids.
